Editing Instructions

Follow these helpful instructions on how to edit an existing seagrass project within the Florida Seagrass Conservation Information System.

Editing projects in the Florida Seagrass Conservation Information System is very easy. If these instructions do not answer your questions, please contact us at seagrass@MyFWC.com.

  1. Once you have located the project you wish to edit, click on the project name to go to the Project Details page.

  2. The link at the top of the Project Details page will take you to the Seagrass Project Update Form which allows you to edit the specific project.

  3. From this page, you can add details or make changes to the existing information. If you need field descriptions or examples, please view the article Field Descriptions.

  4. If you need to change any of the contact information, please add the details into the Comments field, or e-mail us at seagrass@MyFWC.com. We are currently working on developing a method for users to update the contact details, but it is not available at this time.

  5. The last field on the page is the required Comments field, where we ask for your name and a way to contact you, as well as a list of the changes you have made. Please be aware that if you do not include valid information in this field, we may not be able to process your update.

  6. Once all changes have been made, click the Submit button to send the update to FWC-FWRI for approval. If any required fields have been left blank (indicated by an * asterisk), you will be directed back to the Seagrass Project Update Form to make corrections.

  7. The Cancel button will abandon all changes and return you to the Project Details page.

One concern mentioned to us by many users is that they are wary of making changes in case they make a mistake. Since updates do not automatically replace the original record, and FWRI always has a backup of the original record, there is no need to worry! We will inform you and the other contacts listed for the project when an update has replaced the original record, which will give you the chance to double-check the accuracy of the changes. If you find any mistakes at that point, feel free to complete a new update, or contact us directly at seagrass@MyFWC.com.
